The Water Quality Work Group was formed in March of 2016 as part of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) Wholesale Customer outreach effort. One of the work group’s activities is determining the best way to communicate water quality information about the GLWA system. Initial work has focused on the Lead and Copper Rule and concerns about lead in drinking water. The work group developed common messaging for use in the introduction, closing and lead section of community annual Water Quality Reports as well as supporting diagrams of the GLWA water system. We strongly encourage communities to incorporate this messaging into this year’s Water Quality Report if you have not already completed it. The text and diagrams can be downloaded from the https://outreach.glwater.org/ . Conveying a unified message to the entire GLWA service area is critical to maintaining public confidence in the quality of our drinking water.
If you have already completed your report, you can incorporate this messaging into your water quality messaging going forward on your website and in other materials. The work group is also in the process of developing a set of Frequently Asked Questions to better understand lead in drinking water. This will be posted on the newWater Quality Matters page of the GLWA website when it is completed in June. We will notify you when this is posted.
If you would like to join the Water Quality Work Group, contact Teresa Weed Newman at Teresa@ProjectInnovations.com. Meetings are held primarily online, via GoToMeeting, and in person when face-to-face dialogue is important or to view national webinars on topics of interest.
Your support in this effort is appreciated!
